Brent: decisions, decisions...
Apr. 3rd, 2012 08:10 pmToday I did basically nothing - cut the dimple for the opening pin, so the knife will close:

And cut a hole for the thingie to take the knife out of sneath - forgot how they call it:

Then the hard part came. I colored the parts for a reason. I still don't know what to use for the sides. So I tried few things.
Original design assumed arizona ironwood:

But then I tried mammoth ivory bark:

And mammoth ivory:

UGH I DON'T KNOW GUYS. Mammoth ivory looks pretty badass. It's like busy-busy on the blade and bolster, then calmity of the side and busy-busy again on the round end-piece. This is tough. Originally I planned this knife to be busy-busy. I guess it is too overwhelming to me right now. "Utro vechera mudrenee", so as russians speak which in loose transcription sounds like "morning is wiser than evening".
Decision will be made tomorrow. I'll show all the stages of it, pluses and minuses of each and every finish and how I make it.
