Brent: screws and back support.
Feb. 22nd, 2012 09:21 pmChoosing the right screws is everything. They hold the entire project tougether for many years and withstand sometimes thrmedous stress. So? Let's see what we have.
I took a brass plate and drilled 3 holes: for 2, 2.5 and 3mm thread.

Oh yeah, totally forgot: problem with missing tap holder is resolved, thanks to Lowes:

As the editor's choice there are 8 M3x0.5 screws selected. They are the sturdiest and beefiest out of all mini-screws I have, not to mention the precise specification they are manufactured to.
You can see the metric thread to the left and the inch thread to the right:

As you can see, metric is way finer. After using the M3 tap o the actual damascus backbone piece, screws went in like they were born there:

.. and overall look is about like this:

Slowly but surly pieces starting to come tougether.
Unfortunately this weekend I have to supervise the move of our New Jersey trading floor from one place to another, so wish me luck - so many things can go wrong that USA might lose another taxpayer by the end of this Saturday.
To be continued - the spring support and locking mechanism fine-tuning.
